FAQ

Q) When should I book?

A) It ultimately depends on what type of shoot you need. For portraits two weeks should be ample time, it’s a good idea to contact me with at least 3 dates/times you’re available in order to ensure a spot. For anything that requires shooting on a specific date (i.e.. weddings, births, special events) the sooner you book, the better, although if you’re looking for something last minute, it never hurts to ask.

Q) What’s your style and interests?

A) Almost anything dealing with people. I really enjoy the photojournalistic, documentary style approach when working with children, as well as fine art fashiony stuff with adults.
I do my best to capture emotion and personality regardless of the assignment, in addition to making every photograph unique, distinct, and full of life.

Q) Where will you travel?

A) Anywhere you ask me to. I am located in Louisville, KY and will travel anywhere within the metropolitan area sans compensation for travel, but due to rising gas prices I do ask for compensation for travel outside of Louisville metro (outside of I-265). If you are located outside of Louisville and would like me to travel to your location, please contact me for a travel quote.

Q) Where will we shoot?

A) That’s completely up to you, I often suggest parks or bodies of water that will complement the subject and make them feel most comfortable/relaxed, but really anywhere that helps to express your personality. If you’re still stumped, I’d be happy to offer suggestions.

Q) How should I prepare for a shoot?

A) If were referring to a child, please schedule shortly after a nap and meal, this will ensure that they are relaxed and refreshed.
I have no problems with wardrobe changes, for anyone, so feel free to bring as many outfits as you like. If you’re uncertain how something will look, thats fine, bring it!
If your shoot will involve exposure of any part of your body (such as maternity) make sure there is nothing constricting that could leave indentations in the potentially exposed areas for at least 2 hours prior to shooting (such as elastic waist bands)

Q) Can I show my friends my proofs before I’ve chosen prints?

A) I will provide you with access to a private web gallery to view and select your unedited proofs before editing and ordering prints. If you would like to share and get assistance from friends or family that is fine, although I do ask that you not share your proofs via sites such as myspace or facebook until I’ve had a chance to edit your favorite images and attach my logo. If my logo is on an image you’re welcome to share it with the whole world in whatever manner you like, so long as you do not edit or distort the image or logo.

Q) How long will you keep my images?

A) Your images will remain on the original web server where you viewed and ordered them for a minimum of 4 weeks. I can re-upload them at no charge for up to 30 days after the shoot if you’d like reprints. After that I will keep your images on my hard drive for a minimum of 6 months and they can be re-uploaded for reprints for a small fee. After 6 months I archive them and the recovery process is slightly more involved, but reprints are possible, just contact me for rates.

Q) What equipment do you use?

A) My primary body is a Canon 5DmkII, with a canon 40D as backup, in addition to several Canon lens’, and a couple Canon Speedlites.

Q) What measures are you taking to “go green”, and reduce your carbon footprint?

A) Aside from the numerous things me and my family do at home, since this is a huge concern of ours, you may notice I use dark backgrounds on ALL of my pages, this is because it takes far less energy to display a dark background than a light one. My web server is powered by 100% wind energy. I’ve converted completely to digital, which reduces the amount of plastic film canisters ending in landfills, in addition to processing chemistry finding their way into our water supply. I also use repurposed, recycled, and recyclable materials whenever possible.
